plus the fact that only a handful (about 500 odd) were shipped over there; defenders are pretty thin on the ground. A bit like Isuzu - Counties here, perhaps?
As said, the price is well above the average for NAS Defenders anyway.

Defender 90s are rare in the US, and Defender 110's EVEN RARER. Very few were sold (the were INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED after all), and the US has a 25yr import restriction (so still 2 years before you can legally import a 1984 110). From memory, I think only 500 110s were sold and about 2500? 90's.
Rangies and discos on the other hand are a dime a dozen over there and worth bugger all - the way it should be.

That said, they usually only sell around the US$20-40k mark - that is overpriced.
EDIT - btw - there will probably be lots of money to be made in a few years selling 90s and 110s to the US. Only problem is that buyers in the US want mint condition vehicles for the money they are paying, and that is rarely the case with a 25YO truck.

that one is certainly pretty damn near mint! look at the photos!!
amazing condition, but then again it's only done about 5000 kms a year...
