Having done the diu tyre change on a bike years ago, I learnt that you can stuff it up, so much so that i pinched the tube on the front wheel, was riding to work, blew the front wheel, got the death wobbles, couldn't hang on, it nosedived and i ended up in/on the side of a parked car.
10 mins earlier I was on general holmes drive in peak hour traffic.
the moral of my story, if there is the remotest chance of damaging the tube, get the experts to do it.

The bead won't and can't stretch - what you are doing is taking up slack that you create by dropping the bead into the centre of the rim at the shortest radius. If you HAVEN'T stepped on the bead ALL the way round to displace it you'll never win.

I took it over to my mates place and he used the back end of 2 shifters and had it done in seconds, I did dream about kicking him after seeing him do it with such ease, but I must say the job is now done
