Unhappy Insurance for a modified Range Rover?

I have a big issue of sorts. I have rang several mainstream insurers and have been declined on all of the occasions due to the fact that there insurance charter does not cover my sort of vehicle. Shannons were also not too interested as soon as I said its a 4WD, modified and that I would take it offroad. It does have the Blue plate, I have all the paperwork and has been registed before by the previous owner.

Where does that leave me? Are there any boutique insurers out there that would cover the Rangie with a 5.7 without charging the earth or should I just get the CTP and not bother with the overarching cover????

I do not even bother with comprehensive insurance on my Rangies, the cost makes it not worth while.
I just have 3rd party insurance.

I'm in the same boat JTO - because I have more accessories than the disco is worth no one will insure it including shannons so much for the enthusiest.

currently no extra insurance past rego so I drive very bloody carefully on road.

    Cheers guys,
I thought it may go down that path. I have also been given the number of a 4wd only insurer and will give them a tap tomorrow, but that might be costly.

Go the 3rd party extension, much better off and the Rangies themselves are not worth anything sadly. I hate insurance companies and refuse to give the *****s any more money than need to be

Ive got comprahensive on my rangie with all the mods stated 4.4V8,33's on 15x8 ,2in spring lift and the accessorys like uhf and stereo all covered by NRMA and it only costd me 350 PA to cover it for 3.5k which i rekon is reasonable tho id say it would get writen off with only minor damage and its covered for off road use as i asked all the questions and had all the info printed onto my policy

My 89 Rangie is insured with TCIS and is insured for 22 grand agreed value with all accessories
premium is $614.90. Last year it was 24 grand and $650
    also agreed value.
I am just about to pay it tomorrow
and its covered anywhere in aus on or off road.
But you do have to belong to a club associated with the 4wd association.
Been like this for 4 years now.
    I think it good value

    "I think its good value"

A true master of the understatement

Racq wouldn't give me comprehensive on my modded rangie and I had to fight to get 3rd party property
