My grandfather drove the Cobb and co. service Winton to Boulia in 1907 when there was a Min Min pub. Later took it on on his own account ,1910, with a wagonette when Cobbs relinquished the contract owing to lack of horse feed in the great drought. Then motor mails in 1916 with Buick cars. Steve and my grandmother and lots of other winton to Boulia locals of the era clamed to have seen the Min Min lights. Abos of the district were bloody terrified by them, or so I was told. I am a 1941 model and have never seen them even when running a mail car in the area and camping along the road.

Never seen any, but an old Tankies tale of a place on Puckapunyal Range called the She-oaks. The She-oaks boarders a part of one of the range tracks and some of the old hand Sargents flat out refuse to go near there at night due to a Min Min light.

Storys are roughly the same that apon entry to the She-oaks a Min Min comes out of the centre of the oaks and sits between the turret capolas (commander and loader's heads) and apon exit returns to the oaks.

I have been through there during the day, very eary.

    Cheers Easo

When I first heard of the ghost lights i was skeptical untill earlier this year,

3 o clock in the morning watchin a movie, i saw a bright, pale cream colored circle of light on the wall out of the corner of my eye, when i looked straight at it, it just stayed there for about 10 minutes, then slowly started moving, dead level, around the room untill it come to rest just over the head of my bed, when i moved to the foot of my bed, it just stayed there, not moving or anything, I didn't know what to do, just sat there staring at this orb of light, Slowly realising that it was a ball, not a spot, I reached out to grab the ball if light and it dissapeared, I never saw that spot of light again

Back in 1976 when I was working at Mary Kathleen uranium mine between Cloncurry and Mt.Isa, myself and 3 mates were returning from Mt. Isa to Mary K late at night, I noticed some lights in the rear vision mirror, they were orange to red in colour and I thought they were clearance or tailights of a truck. Trouble was we hadn't passed any trucks since leaving the Isa, Jim and Des, sitting in the back of the car turned around and said the lights were gaining on us, I thought they were reflections on the rear w/screen, but they caught up to us and moved off to the left side of the car, I was doing about 80klm/h and we could see them clearly, there were 2 lights and the colour had changed to a lighter yellow colour. I still thought they were reflections on the side windows glass, so I asked Jim and the bloke (buggered if I can remember his name) sitting in the front to wind down the windows, and the bloody things were still there, keeping pace, so they weren't reflections, as we were in a culvert they couldn't have been more than 20 metres away. When we came out of the culvert and onto open areas beside the road, these lights sped up, moved further away and went behind the next hill we were approaching and we never saw them again, Jim said they must be the Min Min lights he had heard about when he used to live in the Isa years before. One thing I noticed was that it was hard to judge how close or far away they were. In the culvert they would have been a max of 20 metres away, but in the open area the distance away was hard to determine, until it went behind the hill, which was roughly a kilometre away, never seen anything like it before or since, Regards Frank.

Ok you blokes are freaking me out now.

I did have an odd experience about 15yr ago near a place called Chambers Flat to the south of Brisbane.
A pitch black moonless night with minimal light clouding.
I was driving north and the sky to the south developed a blue glow. This was an unnatural colour blue somewhat like an LED baby nightlight.
I noticed it in the mirror at first and thought 'how odd'. Then it became brighter and stronger, illuminating the interior of the car completely and did not fade away for about 2min.
It was not lightning. It did not flash or flicker. It was not a power transformer. The light was not centralised or localised. As I drove I looked all around and realised all the trees were also bathed in this bright blue light and all the surrounding paddocks were lit up as far as I could see.
I turned and asked my now-ex-wife if she saw it in case it was just me. She was terrified and just whelped 'faster'. I did.

Maybe it was a weather balloon..

In my Father's younger days(now 76) he spent about 10 years working on various stations out west along with two of his brother's,Winton,Barcaldine,Cheepie, Quilpie etc.He was chased on horse back a few times by a Min Min. He says it stayed around the same distance behind and only disappear when the homestead was in sight. He said the worse part is trying to stop the horse from bolting at the gates.Apparently horses do not like them much........ polite version.

    cheers

Dan, that's not scary, this IS scary, my Triumph 650 had blown a hole in a piston north of Gin Gin in Qld. and I left the bike with my brother (pillion) and hitchhiked to Rockhampton, got a set of pistons (lucky) bought a bag of fruit and started to hitch back to the bike. After a lift which got me part of the way back, I was walking on the darkest night I've ever seen, pistons in one arm half a bag of fruit in the other. I was following the white broken lines in the middle of the road, as that was all I could make out. Then all of a sudden the lines on the road were no more, they just stopped, it was very disorientating, I could see the line at my feet but nothing else, except for four white dots about soup bowl size up in front of me, I stopped to get my bearings I took another step forward and stopped, the hair on my neck stood up, I could hear breathing, CHRIST I was packing it. I took another step and bang, crashed into something, then MOOOOOOOOOO, a BLOODY BIG BLACK COW with 4 white feet was standing in the middle of the road. I don't know whether I leap frogged it or went round it, but when I stopped running I realised I had lost my bag of fruit, still had the pistons though. About 15 minutes later I got a lift off a truck driver (1st vehicle I'd seen in an hour) and he told me he almost ran over a cow, a bit back, standing in the middle of the road eating bananas, I was too embarassed to tell him where the fruit had come from, honest to goodness it happened, Regards Frank.

Never seen Min Min lights, but me and 5 mates (in 3 separate vehicles) swear we saw UFO's, or we think we did. We were driving late at night in SW Qld near a place called Jackson's Field, which is really nothing more than a series of Gas Wells, west of Noccundra. We were in convoy about 100-200m apart, when suddenly 3 bright pinpoints of orangish light appeared high in the sky above us and shot off VERY quickly into the distance. The occupants of all 3 vehicles saw the lights, which were much brighter and lower/slower than meteors. After chattering madly on the UHF, we came to the uneasy conclusion that it must have been 3 RAAF F1-11's doing a mock attack run on the brightly lit gas field, and then hitting the afterburners to get home after the job's done. But I don't think even an F1-11 could accelerate that fast, and these were points of light, not a streaming tail of flame. Weird!

My wife's ol Bro in law is part aboriginal.
He was recently diagnosed with parkinsons. About a week ago he said he'd had enough and wants to die.
He stopped eating and went downhill fast.
He was admitted to hospital with pnuemonia and is dying as he refused to be force fed etc.
The interesting thing is that yesterday he asked his wife, who all the strange Black fella's are that keep visiting him in his room, said he doesn't know them and they dont speak. Nobody else can see them !
Ancient ancesters I guess, come to escort him on.
Iv'e spent a lot of time in the scrub talking to the old
Black fella's, they are amongst my favourite people.
Havent seen a Min Min yet but maybe oneday, eh.
    Cheers.
