Ute Spa!
Me and some mates on New Years eve a few years back at Apollo Bay Vic. Two Ford utes, Spa pump, 44 gallon drum with fire in it, copper wire coiled around inside. Beers, Sun, great view, Beautiful!
cheers Ben
If you've planed all that and forgot the booze, you'll probly be drowned.
sclarke, we've done simple stuff like attached an extension hose to the washing machine that goes outside. Tapped off the bath plug to the back lawn. Lucky that most of our pipes divert outside rather that strait under the house.
Cheers Easo
We divert the the grey water from the showers and washing machine into a drum like Clarkie uses with a tap and hose at the bottom and overflow into the drain at the top. This acts like a surge tank and also allows us to control a bit better where the water goes. It always gets released from the tank within 24hrs. We bypass it in winter.
For rainwater we had a simple system like sclarkes, which worked really well, but last year we invested in a 5000litre tank and a "Rainbank" pump. This cost a bit but is great - it pumps the rainwater to the toilets and washing machine, and has a failsafe so if the rainwater tank empties or the power goes off, it automatically switches back to mains water supply. The pump has developed a fault so waiting for Davie Pumps to come and fix it ( warranty ).
BTW Aldi sometimes have mains pressure pumps on special for about $90.
I looked at many ways to save a bit of water, but the only reason i did it was to wash the cars....
My garden survives well on the little rain we have. So i leave it alone...
I was sick of not being able to wash the cars, so now i can, the Karcher and the 2 44's will keep me going for now.
Love to put in a 10,000 gal tank, but $$$ is the factor.
i dont use a great deal of water in the house, and i shower quick and dont use the washing machine daily... not yet. No kids..
Each bit helps i guess...
I just fitted a 7500L Tank to the side of my shed, just to wash the cars. Only cost me $600![]()
