    A Ser1 going to hell

Most distressing sight last nite.A truck and trailer load of wrecks,a complete Ser1 80" sitting on top.Bad rust in the chassis, all running gear there, windscreen but no roof.
The driver pulled into the roadhouse for fuel,as I went by,I did a uie and checked it out.
He wouldnt sell it,just a pile of crap he reckoned, not even worth his while to unload it.
I told him I wanted to buy it,NOT FOR SALE,only fit for scraping and sending to China.
Could have easily got it unloaded at the shire depot, but the answer was NO.
It came from Wellstead,A bloody long way from Simsmetal where he was taking it.
The 4 falcoon utes and the Ser1 couldnt have paid his fuel there and back, which I pointed out.At this stage he started getting quite rude so I left him with it.
Shame,I would have gone to $500 for it!!!!
If any of you Perthites want to try and rescue it from Simsmetal, assuming thats where it went today.
    PEED OFF BIGTIME!!!!

Unlucky mate, sorry to hear. I doubt that there was a iventory on board that he had to deliver. Could have made himself a few bucks. For what its worth if I was the truckie I would have sold it to you.

    Cheer Up

Private operator, unsure why he wouldnt sell it for more than what the load was worth,W AN KER!!!!

They are doing a lot of damage to Australia's motoring heratige. I had lined up two, a 50 and 52 model to pick up. One was a runner, the other rough but OK. I was a month late and they've both gone to scrap.

i remember seeing a complete S1 shorty in the Land Vehicle Spares yard in the early 90's - it had lived most its life on Scotland Island (near Sydney) and had a fair bit of rust...anyway, they couldn't sell it as a project and couldn't be bothered wrecking it so a while later it got speared with a fork lift and dumped into the recyclers truck - just like your story!!!! When are these people going to realise that THEY DON'T MAKE THEM ANYMORE and once they're gone they're gone

    not the case.
ive been down to sims here in revesby to get a hold of a few wrecks for a SES training coarse... just bodys to cut the tops off...rescue simulations... eventually i got the wrecks from them BUT they had to go straight back.....

some people really get attached to their scrap

    I know the feeling mate.

Went to a wreckers Tuesday, doing a favour for a mate. Out of interest I asked about any Landy Rangie stuff.

"We crushed an S3 with Holden motor yesterday"

Bloody Hell, where is my really big gun.

    Shorty.
