Yes - doors changed in 1987, for example. There was continuous development from the introduction of the 110, and there was no break, just a change of name and the new engine with the Defender, although there was an artificial break here as there were no 110s sold for about eighteen months. (or 120, 127 or 130s - no 90s were sold in Australia until long after the name change)
The engine changes in the UK - 2.25 to 2.5 to turbo were not seen here, as the only engines fitted were the V8 and Isuzu.

G'day Folks :)
I would agree with JD on that, the only engines available in Australia in any Coil sprung Landrover 110 was the 3.5 ltre V8 Carb. and the 3.9 ltre Isuzu 4BD1 normally aspirated diesel, the 5 bearing 2.5 litre Petrol and Diesel was not marketed in Australia, the 2.25 ltre Petrol in 5 bearing form was fitted to the last of the Series 3 leaf sprung Station Wagons which were fully imported and not CKD.:)
cheers
G'day All, I have one of the last 4 cyl Diesel engines as fitted to Series 3, and it is a 5 main bearing job:D cheers Dennis
Thanks for the heads up on the ute but I'm after a wagon as I need room for my duaghter.
Hi County3.9,
Yep, it's factory original. The VIN number verifies that as well. :)
To be clear though, when I say 1990 County, this is based on the year it was first registered and the year on the rego papers. However, I believe the "FFxxxxxx" part in the VIN number tells me it's actually a 1989 build?
Does that make it a 1990 or a 1989 ?? Thoughts welcome! :D
Jon
I think the definitive figure is the year/month on the compliance plate - but since these vehicles were either CKD or built up (later ones built up I think) imports, there is likely to be a considerable delay between when the car or kit was made in the factory (which the VIN will refer to) and when it arrived here, and was assembled, modified, plated and delivered to a dealer - and it may have been in stock at either JRA or the dealer for some time.
So there will be three dates - in order these are the manufacture date, Australian assembly/modification/compliance, and first registration. I would think that legally it is the middle one, and this is the one that should be on the registration papers.

I would go for MY89...
Thanks for the info, that's interesting, I will have a look tomorrow at the compliance plate on the car.
I believe the car was CKD from the second "F" in the "FFxxxxxx" part of the VIN.
If it was imported I *think* (and only think) that it would be an "FAxxxxxx" VIN. All of this is going on the stuff I have derived from this place:

Will let you know, I hope it is a 1990 compliance / build, 'cos there won't be too many around with the "new" Defender just around the corner at that time!!!! :D:D
