Yep its true you can have a Million dollar vehicle and a one dollar driver
I don't think so. My parents own a Pajero, about a 1997ish model, and they did about 11,000kms around NSW, Vic, SA, NT and Qld and had no problems at all. I've seen some very capable trucks with some absolute no-hopers behind the wheel and they tend to be the ones gettnig recovered :wasntme:

I just tried translating Pajero from Spanish to English, and it still says Pajero! Must be an urban myth.

It's NOT an urban myth.
The word "Pajero", pronounced either "pakero" or "pahero" depending on whether you are from Spain or South America, derives from Spanish for "straw."
It is the name of a small grass-living wild cat (hence the cat in the original Pajero logo) BUT in South America it refers to someone who gets overactive with their "straw."
EDIT: P.S. I know this because I lost a bet with my lovely bride over this issue :( Don't you hate it when other people are right?
One good thing about the 'other' 4x4's is you can throw them away when they wear out :D.
If you try and throw away a Land Rover some guy always manages to pick it up and get it going again (sorry Ron).
Maybe the Land Rover should be renamed the Boomerang .
I have an 1988 LWB high line Paj as a project for the wife
My first 4be was a '87 paj. Every trip I went on was a "Pajero Hill" so called because Pajeros couldn't get up them. I always did.
Side issue, I just saw Martha Davis from the Motels singing Total Control on "The Side Show" Good but you'd never recognise her!
Back on subject, The Paj was a great vehicle to learn on. I found that the tojo & patrol drivers didn't really need to know how to drive, the vehicle did it for them. In a paj you learn about keeping wheels relatively level etc. I'm a better driver beause of it. I didn't need recovery very often at all.
