Could have been a civilian 6x6 - they are fairly rare, but much more common than a perentie in civilian hands.

Saw what I thought was a privately owned Perentie outbound on the magic mile about 2pm today.
Looked wider than a standard Defender, was genuine 6x6 and the rear of the chassis was Gal.
It was fitted out with a steel drop side tray and tradesman racks. The paint was OD with black flares, all was faded and flakey.
Is it the real McCoy? Does someone here know it? How would someone come into posession of it?
As an aside, the bloke I was in the car with is ex army transport and not a LR fan. I mumbled something 'bugger I don't have a camera', he says 'Oh I've got lots of pictures of those things,,, all bogged'.![]()

I think I may have seen the same one in East Brisbane last week. No racks from memory, but wide body cab, old OD paint and drop side tray.
