    what keep changing the filter?? especially if they break it everytime they fit one, no doubt. I would just be happy if someone could fit one that is not going to **** diesel out straight away

    allow me to rephrase....

    so long as you change the filter regularly then not having the sensor there will not be a problem as the sensor is only there (as pointed out) as a water level indicator, changing the filter removes what little water you might have gathered....

    Filters are too expensive to replace prematurely. I'd just remove the plug from time to time to drain any water that might be there.

    ah very good, i had a good look at it today and found out it is the sensor that its leaking from. The thread on the filter is fine so at this stage i have ordered another sensor. I thought if i get rid of the sensor i may well have a constant light on on my dash so i will give a new one a crack.

    Can I ask what a new one costs? There is another guy on the forum who has his broken off.

    not sure yet i got them to order it this morning over the phone but i will know how much its gonna hurt on monday and i will be sure to put it on here

    Around 40 odd nearly fifty dollars from a supplier on here we cannot mention.

    three oil filters later one sensor later i now have a landrover that leaks nothing, i had both oil filters replaced and within a few days oil leak was getting worse and worse, found faulty oil filter , replaced it again and yipee happy disco.
