    Moving to Townsville

Well, I have finally had enough of the black stuff and I am moving to Townsville. I thought about going back to Brisbane but after a recent visit, you can keep that traffic. So how many forumites grace the lovely hotbox named Townsville.

And where is not a good place to live

I'm not in Townsville, but am a near neighbour. I live and work on Hamilton Island 50% of the time. I understand that Townsville can be bloody 'ot and 'umid a lot of the time.

and the new devolopment area out near the dam (well its 2+ years ago now) should be in full swing and looked like it was mainly going to be small hobby farm type blocks

Did some time in Townsville (3 years which included 6 months on Palm Island). Not a bad place to be as long as you can cope with the humidity. Almost bought a house at Kirwan but took up a new job back in Brisbane.

Haven't been back for about 2 years now so a few things have changed no doubt. As far as good places to live, it depends on what you're after. No disrespect to BLKnight but I don't have the highest opinion of Vincent from my time up there. Same goes for places like Derragun, Rassmussan, Sth Townsville, parts of West End, Stewart, Wulguru and Deeragun. But Like I said before, haven't been there for two years so lots have probably changed, and it's only from my experiences.

Good thing about Townsville is everything is no more than 10-15 minutes away. If I had my time there again I would probably live up Bushland Beach way or on an outer block of upper Kelso.

We were thinking about it the other day as we were in Ayr for a wedding on the weekend.... Townsville sounded a fair call as I could still get a job on the cranes there easily enough.
