how did the landys stack up?

Landy's and Rangies did quite well. Unfortunately 1 disco and Jeff's county both went bang on the first day.

The Rovers had nearly a quarter of the field and were the best represented car there. The beige rangie was a beast and kicked it through the course. I think we did ok in the blue rangie but final results not posted yet. No carnage until I got 50 metres from home and the axle went bang. But I guess somewhat not unexpected as we were still running the standard 10 spline and gave them a fair flogging over sat and sun.

Ouch here's me thinking, I'd like to have a go but with at least 3 cars damaged maybe I'll think again.
Was everyone twin locked or anyone running standard diffs, (I don't have lockers).

It was quite a punishing weekend - most cars were double locked, so there was a lot of cv/axle/transfer case issues in the field.

We made it through the weekend in the D3 relatively unscathed - no electric or suspension gremlins, despite the pounding and dunking we gave the car! Our only damage was to a part of the rear plastic bumper surround that kept getting hung up on everything, so we removed it Sat night to prevent any further damage.

The combination of having both the second-smallest tyres and the longest wheelbase in the comp meant we weren't as competitive as we would have liked (there was only one class). We couldn't make most of the tight turns and kept getting hung up on the larger logs. Still, we never lost traction, had a ball, and on the parts of the course that suited us better (like the wombat holes), we sailed through.

Kudos to my navi Nathan, who thought nothing of hurling himself into waist-deep, near-freezing mud to attach/recover winch straps, remove logs etc!

Congrats to the other Rover drivers too - it was good to see the marque so well represented.

Now to figure out how to fit 35" tyres on a D3 ......

    Cheers,

    Gordon

We did half the first day and most of the second day with no lockers. Our compressor decided that the time had come to give us grief.

It didn't cause too much dramas but we were lucky to have the 4.6L and 36" tyres to offset the problem.

Gordon I really enjoyed watching you throw the car around ... no fear !!! We were the guys who winched you out at section H on day one (me and merv). I am going to copy your blind on the front.
