Thanks guys, I've directed my booking agents (wife) attention to this discussion.
Keep the suggestions coming.

There is a motel on Glebe Point Road in Glebe that I stayed at a couple of years ago. It was about $88 a night then when everything else in the area was about $160. It wasn't bad, had internet access in the rooms and was a couple of doors down from Bridge st. Sorry I cannot remember the name but there are only a couple of motels in the area and it shouldn't be too hard to find. It was about a $10 taxi fare from the centre of town and I could fit the Disco in the carpark no worries

We just got back from our trip.
Thanks for your advice, my booking agent (wife) looked into the suggestions, and did some more investigating.
We found a really good spot - Dalgety Square Apartments in Altimo. They're not a hotel, most are private accom, but they have some apartements for rent. Underground parking fitted a lifted defender with rack (2.3 entrance, 2.2 exit - so I had to exit via the entrance or the loading bay door - not a problem). The apartment was $190 per night, but they didn't charge extra for parking and allowed us 2 parking spots. (Savings in time, meal prep & public transport as well as parking made this a good deal).
It was a 2 BR with kitchen, laundry, bath room, en-suite, lounge, verandah with BBQ and was done up nicer than most 5 Star places I've stayed at. They also had a pool & gym, the kids enjoyed the pool.
There were no issues with the number of people we had (3 adults, 1 teenager, 2 kids and a baby), the kids slept on camping matresses on the floor. Other places had a max occupancy of 4 or 5 and we'd have to have rented a 2nd room).
It was a short walk to Darling Harbour (10min).
Anyway, I thought I'd pass on the info for anyone else wanting to travel to Sydney & find Land Rover parking.
