simple.... (Im assuming that your not aiming to build a drag landrover here but something that is good (or better than stock) off road and liveable onroad.
fit a tdi300 not a big job nor all that expensive (relatively speaking) keep the existing running gear and do your body lift. At the same time as a lot of things that you will have out/modify during an engine transplant you will need to have out/modify for a body lift. and its easier to do the engine bay side of that work for a body lift if the engines not in the way.
Yes as a stock tdi300 its not going to win you any drag races or sled pulls.
as part of your body lift work plan out a bigger radiator and intercooler. (you'll see why later) and if your an auto lover a cooler for that too.
now live with it for a bit get some $$$ back together and attack the driveline from the tcase out. Fit your 4.11's and your lockers and your maxi axles and ascroft CV's Think about your setup for the spring lift at this point in time, Do it if you have the $$$ but dont force it.
look around get your new bull bar winch, land anchor high lift anything that adds weight to the vehicle fitted and get that nice fat tall rubber and rims that you want... put the rubber in the shed for now.
Save more $$$ and go see the suspension shop fit your new suspension as you want it and the rubber and your almost done...
Still think you need more power? go see a Landie specialist (or a lot of blokes with TDI's from here) and get the pump tweaked. square the radiator and the intercooler shortly after if not at the same time as the tweaking. The TDI, with tweaks, can be made to go as well as a TD5 in stock trim maybe a touch better but I wouldnt push it that far if you want it to have a long and prosperous life.
being smart about it, grabbing bits when you can get a bargin (even ARB have sales months and end of stock clearances)
Depending on how far from stock you want to go, I reckon you could do it for $15K easily.
