I'm considering buying a T-Van, and want to rent it out.

My wife has discovered that she enjoys luxury camping. She really enjoyed Cape York, but the Defender was packed to the gills with gear. Me thinks a camping trailer is in order. I really like the T-Van's, but the cost is a big down side. What I'm thinking, is can they be rented out? Will insurance cover it? If I use it as a buisness, I can justify the cost. I have a place to store it, but sadly it won't be used on a regular basis (probably 1 big trip a year, and the odd weekend). Would anyone here want to rent it??
    Just playing with options.

    Cheers,

    Ken

    Hi Ken,

I would rent it, if the pricing was reasonable.

I have been toying with the idea of buying a camper trailer but I can't justify the $25K plus for the good ones with a hard floor.

And for the bulk of the time it would be simply sitting in the driveway unused, if I bought one, as I simply can't get away as often as I'd like.

So renting is a good option for me.

As good as they are, the price is very expensive for what you get, they aren't the biggest camper trailer around either.

I know it doesn't seem that important but you'll find over time that space and somewhere to go when it's raining will make the whole campertrailer experience either good or very bad.

    Cheers Baz.

A friend of mine was looking into this. I think the price was about $500 per week to rent. I think it might have come kitted out with a fridge and other stuff.

He only wanted it for 3 weeks so the $1500 beat $20,000 plus to buy.

Not sure what place. Somewhere between Sydney and Newcastle.

    Hope this helps somewhat.
I would approach them (Newcastle), and offer to be a "NORTHERN BASE" for their Marketing efforts.
They get the business, they share the sale of the Customer with you.
Expands their market Base for little cost.
Seems to me to be time for a BULK ORDER of T Vans. One per State. Do you have mates, via this network, of similar disposition? Maybe Newcastle just went National.

Good luck from Vic WAY DOWN sOUTH IN mEXICO.
My son has borrowed my County. I miss it.
