Exclamation Distress Call - Alice Springs

I have just dragged the family out of Glen Helen resort and finally arrived in Alice with a suspect alternator.

My D2 has just had the dual battery installed for this trip and everything has gone pear shaped.

The alternator appears not to be charging anything well. It is only giving about 12.7 volts and I have one engel & van fridge, 120 a/h battery and all the other associated bits. The kids DVD runs off a three plug cigy extender with a low voltage light and this is going off.

I need to know anyone in Alice Springs who knows what they are doing to get it all checked out.

I am staying at the Big 4 van Park and need assistance.

    Mobile number is 0425 770 234.

    Cheers.
    Lyndon.

Our experience of reconditioning them is
A: Not very successful and doesn't include a new vacuum pump.
B: More expensive than a new one!
