Well done
Im getting ready to do some welding on my new trailer tommorow, got the axle/brakes all together and most of the chassis steel cut up.
Andrew
a plasma cutter would be grouse but u dont got one of these do u, u cant use a circular saw, 4 mil plate is quiet thick so are stuck with your grinder, there are good discs and really bad ones dont buy cheap discs, using clamps and timber for a guide is really your only way out

Ahh let the fun begin! Actually it hasn't been too bad at all, It would be better if I didn't have the time constarints but oh well
Ends on and tie rail done. Time was pushing today so a quick fix of ply for the sides and front. Quick coat of paint. Hopefully get the lights done tonight and the hubs repacked......
Did you get much done LandyAndy?
Hi
Have you asked at the local steel supplier to guilitine the steel to the right sizes, only cost $5 or so per cut,
it would save a lot of agro and ensure cuts are straight and parallel
Not yet will do for the replacement sides.
The problem is I need the trailer for tomorrow but it is very difficult to get steel sheet here (Yes there is the Whyalla Steelworks about 5km's away but they don't sell retail in small sizes!)
The metal centre we have is only open Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30pm so I had to work with what I could get.
Actually wasn't as bad as I expected, actually the circular saw (GMC cheapy) with the right blade cut it well and at a reasonable pace.

Yep circular saw works a treat if you take it steady. I'm hopeless at getting a straight cut with almost anything so the circular saw was my choice to help me get a neater cut. Almost used 3 discs at less than $4 each thought that was reasonable (obviously a rofessional cutting it for me would have been better but it wasn't too bad at all)
As the slogan goes...... JUST DO IT!
