Not a Disco, but my Lexcen does that as does my brothers unleaded V8 Cruiser. I always thought that noise was normal.
My last question fell on deaf ears
Calling Discovery 1, 3.9V8 owners.
When you unscrew the "Petrol" fuel cap, do you get a massive "WOOSH" from pressure build up, when the vehicle has been driven on a hot day?
I'm trying to find out if this is normal?
If not, I have a blocked "thingamejig" thats lets air pressure out of the fuel tank.
Any replies profound or not will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Ron

nope thats normal and part of emissions control in the cap is a pressure valve that will let air in but not fumes out if your been running on a hot day and pushing hard your fuel could easily be at or above 40 degrees if you started with the fuel at 0 the liquid itself will be some 4-5 % larger by volume and it will be trying to vaporise fairly well.
Not getting the woosh after running or on a hot day is not normal.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
I did not see a post from you so I guess I must be deaf.
Yes that sound is normal. Just a burp from the tank.
My Ford (or should that be Land Rover?) Meteor sedan does that and it is a 1984 model, bless it's little heart.
It's now going to a new owner so he can burp the baby from then on.
yep normal 89 rangie does it as well as my 2000 disco, and its does it the most when the tank is near empty
Many thanks guys,
I'm pleased to hear that the "woosh" that also becomes a "Whistling Disco" is normal
Cheers,
Ron
