    Accomodation at Fraser?

G'day all, I'm after a bit of advice about Fraser Island. I've decided to take the oldies there for a few days, and as they're probably a bit past it for camping these days, I was thinking about renting some accomodation - either a unit or a beach house. Not 100% sure which area/village we want to stay at - one of our friends has said Happy Valley is nice, but we've also been told that if you head further north to Orchard Beach it'll be less crowded.

Any of you stayed somewhere that you'd recommend? We're thinking of heading there around late October/ early November.

    Cheers

I've stayed at the Happy Valley Eco Cabins many moons ago when they were new and they were very nice. Not sure what they are like 2day or what the price is.

For a real resort experience, Kingfisher Bay is the place to go but...... I believe somewhat draining on the hip pocket.

On the south eastern side of the island, you also have Eurong with lots of apartment style accomodation.

Orchid Beach is nice but have no idea of what the accomodation is like up there - there are some very nice homes up there though.

Thanks mate, I'll check out the Eco Cabins. Think we'll give Kingfisher a miss though - not really after resort type accomodation.

Anyone know what the crowds will be like late October/early November? Not school holidays as far as I know, so hopefully it won't be too bad ...

Try a Google search. I found a couple of nice looking houses at Orchid Beach, though I have not stayed in any of them.

Orchid Beach might be a bit too far north for my likings as we like to visit the lakes and central station etc.

The first time we went to Fraser we stayed at Dilli Village which is fairly south of most places. Here is a link to it, http://www.dillivillage.com.au/

Looks like it's been taken over by a University but rates should be OK.

We used to go the first week in November as the tailor fishing season is over and it was a lot better. Fish was always on the table as Bream, Flathead and good old Dart were common.

Great place as long as there are not too many people.
