Just coming into autumn over here... My thermometer read 4 degrees the other morning.

I'm hoping for a harsh winter this year.

My thoughts exactly. We can only dream of real weather. Afraid I'm not one who believes in it being hot all the time. No winter to speak of in coastal Qld.
Will move back to Australia upon retirement.

Yeah, 40 to 50 miles is "just around the corner"!
I love the place names, sounds like you're talking in some kind of code!

[QUOTE=ladas;612389]Whilst I am a 'namby pamby bloody sotherner' (Surrey) I did go to Leeds University for a while and lived at Rawdon - but spent quite a bit of time at a mates place in Idle.

    Which department at Leeds Uni?

I got my degree from physics dept there then landed up working there until they booted me out. Best thing which ever happened to me.

I did some joint research with John Fisher and spent quite a bit of time with Devon Darby in the Bioengineering lab in Mech Eng.

That was back in the early 90's
