It's not the Toolangi Trip, somewhere in Europe by the look of it but still relatively impressive for the car as I have seen one for real and I wasnt overly impressed.

Just thought I'd mention that like a series Rover they run Leaf springs on the back.
Thats modern thinking now isnt it.....
That and Independant front end makes it look like a Jap brand 4wd ute not a luxury 4wd but it doesnt really worry me as Im not going to buy one.

A local real estate agent has recently acquired a H3, a yellow/orange vers, with poxy mags and skinny tires...
the current (sorry guys) prado looks bigger...
...but the H3 is only a reskinned Chev Tahoe.
An ex mil H1 floats around here, damn impressive, despite its questionable offroad abilites...

I have seen an H1 on Mt stirling before coming Up the summit from TBJ when it was all rutted out and it did look great articulating but when we got to the hairpin just down from the summit gate, you could see where he had taken about a 15 point turn to get around.
I would hate to see the paint job after a trip through some of the tracks in Toolangi as the Disco's both got plenty of scratches last time we went, an H1 would be like a dozer clearing the way.

Like the original ww2 jeep, H1, the 'humvee' was created to a set of specs, which seemed entirely clever...
... on paper...
the theory of the H1 is genius...but...
...its real world practicality and actual build quality may not have been....
but the H1 was never meant for civilian use...and H1s should never have been 'let go' for civilian use...
which has led to the 'issues' of civilian use of 'hummers'...
we landy lovers would think not of using an ex army perentie as a 'soccer mum' daily driver... the H1 should be considered the same, irrespective of its sometime inadequate mil abilities.....
In civvy land, the H1 should be a curiousity, like a Pinzgauer, Haflinger, Volvo C303, Land Rover FC, Unimog or similar...
(don't get me started on eastern bloc 8x8 trucks used as 'cars'.....)
but I'd love a Kamaz

however, the H3 is a Tahoe, and it carries huge baggage, as the misguided GM marketing geniuses, push it as a 'Hummer'.....

Just to defend the hummer for a few seconds... it does what it was specced to do quite well, Follow tanks. but then After youve subdued the terrain with 60+t of abrahams (more if you were following a section) I just about reckon you could get there with a moped.

SubscriberH1 is the only Hummer based on the military Humvee, the H2/H3 is based on the Chev Taheo (ie) Chev suburban type vehicle, which are crap offroad.
H1 and the Humvee have coil independent suspension all round and the 6.8 chev V8 diesel.

I have to agree with Ben on this, H1 was 4 wheel indipendant susp, coil sprung, H2 is on the Tahoe chassis and the H3 isnt anything like the Tahoe platform, it's way too small and is pretty much the same as a Rodeo so I'd say that would be it.
As far as Off road goes, I recon an H1 would be great crossing the simpson or trips like that as long as the air con works well, plenty of room and power.
As far as a perentie to drive the kids to school, really depends on where the school is in Iraq
I could see some of the local Mums around here driving perenties, one of them has an 80 series with 38" swampers or something similar that looks like it's never seen dirt that parks 2 wheels on the gutter each morning in front of the primary school down the road.
The H3 will just be another 4wd that is capable but wont be used off road by anyone who buys one as they wont be capable enough to atract the 4wders among us.
