    Wheel painting

No not a thread on modern art or any of that crystal gripping hippie nonsense.

I am thinking about spraypainting the steel rims on my disco 1, and thought I might venture outside the traditional silver on silver look the factory suggested.

Has anybody painted their rims any colours other than the traditional and what did they end up like?

    Pictures would be great

    Cheers

    What colour is your Disco?

I'm toying with the idea of having my alloys painted to match the colour of the car. The dark grey alloys came standard on the tombraider Defenders but they are very rare in AU so painting looks like my only option ...

Those wheels are extremely rare in Australia because the local Tombraider just had the usual silver Defender alloys.

Jason, you could always just quickly paint one or more wheels to see how it looks.
Some think the car looks tougher with black wheels but it might look odd on an otherwise stock car.

I like the white rims on the white disco, but otherwise I think the silver ones look best.

It does depend on the car a bit though, I like black on the dark green discos.

    Me Again

My disco id Rioja Red. It has a 2' lift, nudge bar and soon to have roof rack (all in black) I was thinking of going black on the rims too but thought it may look toooooooooo much. the darker (metalic) gray sounds like an option.

Or posibly the stock silver rim with a black centre?

Who knows, but at least paint is (relativly) cheap

To LYHybrid, are your offsets on a Disco? if so could you post a picture. What mods are needed to run offsets (doesn't it affect bearing life etc?)

    Keep the ideas coming

That was meant to read a 2" lift

    A 2' lift.....I wish......i wouldn't care about wheel colour then, cause I'd never see the bl**dy things!!!

The silver on mine was getting scratched too so I went for black......these shots aren't great for seeing the wheels but will give you some idea.

I have silver dynamic rims for road tyres and black eastern wheel works rims with play tyres for my Charcoal Disco.

I have always like black rims, but the Silver / Charcoal works well and looks great.
