    td5 or v8 in a discovery

    hi all i'm looking at bying a discovery 95 to 2000 model not surewhat motor is best. wanting to bo some 4x4 but feul econemy has is a big part as well. any thoghts or pointers would be greatly appreciated thak you.

    Well you have answered you own question then.
    Has to be a diesel. Resell will be alot better on a diesel than a v8.
    95 300 Tdi Defender 90
    99 300 Tdi Defender 110
    92 Discovery 200tdi

    and if you are looking at 95-2000 then only the 99-2000 will be a td5, earlier will be 300tdi.

    Depending on where you live and what you will be doing with it, I would go for a TD5 for long distance touring/towing or if you live in the North away from major civilisation. Or If you live in the South near major civilisation I would be going for a V8 running LPG.
