    What's a real Defender without a layer of fine red dust inside?

    Actually, I'm not really all that keen on dust....

    I snuck a quick look through the technical workshop manual and the exploded diagram of the Ford Transit Diesel (PUMA).

    It shows that there is a single oil squirter under each of the four pistons, presumably to help keep the pistons cool. That's reassuring to know that the motor is quite likely to be a long lasting motor with oil squirters keeping the pistons cooled.

    The transfer ratios are now the same as the discoveries if I am not mistaken.

    The Td5 has those. Five of them though.

    In fact it's so low, when in Lo-1st, the engine idle speed is raised to approx 1200 rpm. This is done to help stop the car sliding down slippery slopes (too much engine braking) rather than driving down!

    I don't believe that the Nissan ZD30 has oil squirters under the pistons....

    I tried googling for this last year and couldn't find any reference to oil squirters for the Nissan pistons.
