Nice...
I actually got time to get into the garage first time in ages.
****first time I've used photobucket so hope the links work
Previously fitted the replacement gearbox after replacing odds n sodds.
So today I had this brainwave, removing the gearbox in a RRC is a pain in the a$$ bcause you need to remove the floor, seat, heater and dash
So I marked the floor around the heater area:
and cut a square out of the floor under the heater.
So next time I just need to unscrew the square patch instead of pulling the dash and heater too.
A half hour job instead of all day.
Now I have refitted the floor.
I needed to replace my dash anyway so the replacement I sprayed first with spray for plastic.
The dash is in place but not fully fitted yet, it looks nice and sparkly now though
I have a replacement black carpet so the interior will be going black/white instead of that nice tan colour![]()

very nice Dave but you dont have to take all that out to drop the box in a classic...2 door love the aluminium door pannels by the way

Dave, them pictures scare me as I eventually will need to replace the gearbox. Is dropping the gearbox less work then pulling it out through the inside?
Nice pics too, although I havnt got the experiece yet to do a big job like that.

Mate if you can read the manual its easy...the only thing you got to do is get the back end up high enough to slide the box out....under the chassie rails about 2 hrs and the box should be siting on the bench.....(thats with air tools and haveing done a few)

Good work Stevan

Very nice. And yes I like the door trim too. I wonder if I can do that on a Hiline?
And for those worried about pulling out the gearbox, as people have said already you can drop it but just need axle stands to hold the chassis up.
Hangover, did you just clean up the dash or did you respray it?
Bloody hell ! I REALLY tried to remove the floor without pulling that dash & heater but i just couldn't the end of the floor pan nearest the firewall just kept ketting jammed between the gearbox and the heater there is only a few mm between the floor and heater. Well done though, you will need to post pics next time to show me how.
it was mentioned about dropping the box down before I started but I was swayed to remove the floor because thats what it said in the book and I'm a first timer. Also didnt want to remove the chasis cross member.
To be honest though I think it would be quite difficult to get to the top bell housing bolts and line the box up with the clutch from underneath.
Not a hard job just VERY time consuming.
