The above is the most simple and effective rule. You do not need any type of rules if the spirit on mateship and camaraderie exist.I have being part of more than 100 bikes convoy and the above rule only applies. Many clubs lost members just because an army type rules was enforced. The fun was lost and tensions began.
In a motorbike you do not have a radio, someone have an intercom but never used to keep the vehicles together. Just look after your mate behind and all will work ok.
It is much easier to spot a Landy behind you than a motorbike.
There are enough rules is this society for us impose more.

I have always just played the rule keep the vehicle behind in sight and keep up with the one in front. If you loose the vehicle behind then start slowing down. If they are gone and you can't raise them then stop and let the others know. If that don't work then go back for them.
Only time I have had to turn back was on the highway when steve disappeared. When he didn't catch up after pulling over I rang him to discover had had had a mechanical failure and couldn't ring me. Quick u turn found him about 800 meters back around a bend missing a front wheel.

The other trick to get the attention of the vehicle in front is the hazards.

In WA police require vehicles travelling in convoy to have head lights switched on.

Every outing l have been out on tail end charlie exists

If every vehicle doesnt have UHF, cars are dispered in between crs with UHF

Usual for experienced vehicle operator to travel in middle of convoy to esure any stuck vehicle gets assistance

If the vehicle behind you is not in your line of site you are required to stop and wait for them to catch, especially at road turns etc.

Actually, I worked with very few orrificers. From my perspective, my fellow officers were well respected and liked. However, those that I remember most were the ones you seem to be referring to. Distancing myself from them was always the hardest thing to do.
