I have a Td5 D2 owned by one of our customers that has over 310k now. After the plastic head dowel failures earlier on, it hasn't been apart since. Just fitted a new radiator last week, and this rig has 33's, a 450Nm chip, and a bigger intercooler aswell. It gets driven hard at times, and there are NO oil leaks from the trans or anywhere yet

Again, even though it gets used hard, it gets looked after well. It has repaid the owner for his maintenance $$$ time and again while travelling central aus trouble free, fully laden and sometimes towing .

Mine only has 278K klms but a guy in caboolture qld I bought a leccy motor for fishing off has a def130 300tdi like mine but worked as a Courier around OZ with it carrying everything from letters to magazines tried to sell me his truck and asked if I knew anyone that wanted it as parts even as he was moving to NZ in November. Well his beast which he had owned since new had 968k klms on it and ran better than mine. will go and se if he has sold it yet and take a pic. He has the full service history and delivery logbooks to prove it.

    But I'd still prefer a 4BD1-t

Hi guys, my 2000 MY TD5 130 has reached 324,000 with no engine problems.Hope it continues that way.Regular maintainence is the key and not flogging the vehicle too hard too often.Cheers, 130man.

    Hi all,

    1998 D1 has 205kms on the clock.

    Have replaced:

    lift pump
    2 timing belts
oil hoses, these seem to keep leaking
    3 serpentine belts
    1 belt tensioner

serviced every 10,000, last service I considered having the fuel pump tweaked for a little more ooomph .. the service mechanic looked at me funny and advised me to not bother as it runs so well right now, which gave me bit of a smile.

I then racked his brain about upgrading to a D2. He smiled and advised me to increase my servicing and repair budget before considering the D2

If only the Alpine windows didn't rust
