    I can see clearly now

I fitted a whole bunch of blue LEDs into my instrument pack, the green was too bright and looked very 1990s.

The blue is excellent, much softer light and looks the shyte. A worthwhile improvement.

Only problem was that the LEDs didn't seem to work in the binnacle switches, so I might have to buy a bunch of those lightbulb condoms in blue for those.

Also, for parking on busy roads etc I have been removing fuse A6 for one sided parkers a la Mercedes style. Is there any way to incorporate a switch to shut off power to fuse A6? I'm guessing the back of the fuse box looks like spaghetti, are spade terminals used?

I thought about doing that too, how much where the LED's and where did you get them?
How many leds would I need to iluminate a dial, say the oil pressure gauge?

I just found the price, less than $1 in DSE depending on which you buy.

Did you get the high intensity LED or standard?

They are 1.99 each, and I bought the only 5 that my local autobarn had left, bit annoying as i needed more like 15.

The LEDs are a bit touchy in the binnacle switches, they go out if pushed in too far into the holder and tiny bumps in the road can put them out, so I'm sticking with white incandescents with the blue sleeves.

To light the entire D1 200 series instrument pack, I needed 5 for the gauges plus another two for the "projector box" thing on "hiline" models.

I also fitted one of the old orange bulbs from the switches into the clock, getting rid of the 1990s green. It now has the Merc/BMW-style orange display

There is a thread either I started or someone else did where we used 12v LEDs from RS Components in the instrument binnacle buttons. They work well. You can't put them in as direct replacements for the bulbs though. You have to angle the LEDs towards front.

Thread was about 2 months ago.

    EDIT: Here you go.

    Still working well.

The 200 series ones are different.

As for the angling and brightness, it might be easiest to just pick up a few condoms.

The LEDs behind the gauges work very well though.

I just bought the ready made standard T5 size LED bulbs. They go straight into the socket (one way only to work)
