Right there Robert,

If any of them actually had any real guts or vision, they'd scrap personal income tax and up the GST to 15%...

that way, every dollar earned would go to the earner, then its up to the individual as to how and where the $$$ are spent...

...it'd also get rid of an entire strata of the ATO, those who create Tax laws; tax lawyers and accountants could do something more important with their lives etc....

...then many could work on ways to save the country from being a totally drought ridden desert, soon to be partially immersed, mostly in heavily populated regions, by melting icecaps...

Too True and you may be proved correct.
I have this nagging doubt tho', that the solutions to dirty air will cost money to implement. Now, all the state govts are raising the costs of utilities to pay for desal, recycling, 'green' energy, carbon offsets etc etc etc.
I expect a Labor Fed Govt to do the same once they have squandered the surplus on wage rises, bailing out the states (health, education and transport), raided the future fund to pay for broadband/computers and allowed inflation and interest rate rises to scuttle any remaining productivity.
At least with the current Govt, we can afford to fix the planet.

By that token it would appear that most of Australia is conservative from an affluent upbringing if the last 11 years of federal election results are anything to go by.

I am conservative and from a relatively affluent upbringing and I know that has nothing to do with how skint I am right now.

What is news to me is that I am not real. That's come as a bit of a shock, though it does explain a few things

we as a group of people proport to enjoy the bush 4wheeldriveing and all that sort of thing yet we (you) seem to support the biggest danger to our lifestyle

I would have thought the libs/greens would be last on the poll....
