given your in cheltenham, when i lived down that way the mariner hotel in new st & also the brighton baths on beach rd did good steaks.

Fine steaks in Melbourne,

My list in order of tastyness

1. Squires Loft (South Yarra and City)
2. Vlados in Richmond
3. Swallows in Port Melbourne

Everybody knows Vlados in Richmond, he's been there forever, but it's just a set menu and sometimes it's nice to taste other stuff with it. steamed cabbage is the only non meat item. Squire's Loft serve brilliant meat, and the spare ribs for entree are fantastic. Swallows is in an old little corner pub that is run as a great restuarant, it has a great wine list and I had one of my favorite ever rib-eye on the bone there last year. If it was a night out with the boys and the event was for great steaks, go Vlados or Squires, or if you're after a good venue, a little out of the way, with awesome food and wine, try Swallows.
There are many others, these are just the one I have made an effort to go back to.

I recently had a great steak at The Grill Room. It was a bit $$ but worth it IMHO.

The only place is Vlado's in Richmond on Bridge Road.

Anywhere else is artifical, imitation, not genuine, downright crap, Americanised, commercialised, family orientated, impersonal and the domain of the inferior.

Do your innards a favour. Go to Vlado's.
