    Yes they can pull 3.5 tonne, but you MUST have a breaking system on the trailer, for obvious reasons.

    i was taking that for granted as legally they have to be braked over a certain weight dont they?

    yep - they go from mechanical overide (above 750kg) to full breakaway system (vac or electric) above a certain weight - might be 2 tonn cant recall.

    750k+g Mechanical overide, 1 axle of a 2 axle combination.
    2000kg+Brakes on both axles with a breakaway system installed.
    I keep my boat under 2 ton for a reason
