Depends what you want...I have a JasJam, which is about as good as a combined device gets...BUT they all suck as phones, IMHO. If it wasn't for me needing email on the go, I'd go back to a "proper" phone. Plugged into the laptop as a UMTS modem, it really is quite impressive though.

    Oh, no inbuilt GPS either.

If all I needed was a phone, that's what I'd be after too. Unfortunately, I need email as much as a phone. Tehn, if you're having to carry a PDA for email, I might as well put TomTom on it....

Once I fixed the Bluetooth stuff-up from the Telstra update, I find it sucks less than most other smartphones I've tried. The UI on all WM based phones still needs a lot of work to make the phone functions less painful though.

I'd like to try a Blackberry Pearl though, but we're firmly in the Microsoft/Windows Mobile/Exchange camp for mobile email without a RIM server in sight.

the jamin is great when it is going... been excellent but last few weeks been a little erratic (read major pain in the butt with missed calls etc etc), now it has decided to play dead..

just picked up a new sealed n70 nokia for less than 1/3 new price off ebay so i have a temporary phone while i send the imate off on warranty...

the n70's are slow but cheap for the features

Are you on Telstra by any chance? I had the missed calls problem, and apparently there is an issue with hand-off between UMTS/NextG and GSM. If I force the phone to either GSM only, or UMTS only via the band selector, it's fine. I now leave it on UMTS most of the time and only change it when I can't get a 3G signal or when roaming.
