Holy Jebus 2rocks, just go to a wreckers & buy the stuff & fit it yourself. I paid $120 for my genuine Landy CDL gear. (And if it stops raining today it's finally going in :D)

My 2000 TD5 has the CDL internals but is not connected. DPL have a kit for $308 which connects to the high-low lever but it means that that the CDL is always activated in low range and is only available in low range. Could someone please explain the advantages/disadvantages of this setup.
Twitchy, lol!
Yer right...I was feeling lazy, just every time I look at the console I go "nahhhh!"!

Try to get a D2a update model, this is a year range of August 2002 BUILD DATE to 2004, not when first registered OR released here in Australia.
(eg) My 2001 model D2 was built in 2000, it was released here in Australia in 2001, but released in the UK in 2000, confusing, yes!!!
Model year range BUILD DATE for the D2 is;
1998 to 2004
release date here is;
1999 to 2005.
D2a update model is the D2 released with the CDL installed by Land Rover after many complained about the early one not having them.
I have not been in a hurry to get CDL as I do not plan any hard 4WDing for a while BUT if you break one of the prop shafts, as happenned to me a few weeks ago while on bitumen, then traction control is no use to you. So getting the CDL activated has now hit near the top of the list for me.
I took a 2003 V8 and a 2004 TD5 Classic for a spin today. Both low KM's, leather and very comfy. Cabin space is going to be good for the kids. Brilliant visibility for them but with so much glass next to them the window shades might be required.
V8, nice power, Td5 sluggish but smooth. Too bad you cant get the V8 power with the TD economy.
Apart from CDL is there any other major differences in the D2 model over the years?
Nothing wrong with ACE. In fact after seven years I replaced my pump more for peace of mind than anything else.
My 01 has the CDL actuator knob on the transfer case but no lever but if youre handy u can make your own for next to nothing - in the process right now - see here for tips -www.boothroyd.com/cdl.htm
Made a bracket out of scrap steel and planning to get an old boot latch cable from the wreckers - should work.
Also I love my ACE! As far as electrical probs go Ive had 5 heavy duty trips away in the year ive had the car and not one issue - i guess the gremlins come with the luck of the draw:)
