    Check me grille

Could people have a look at the grille on my 1967 SWB SIIA. I have seen very few with this style, is there a reason?

    Outlaw,

I have only ever seen one on one other Series Landy...and that was in a photograph. Hopefully the collective wisdom on here can offer an answer.

They were common on Australian built models from about 67-69. I had a 69 109 hardtop with one almost identical but with a "six" badge but my 67 had the criss-cross type.

Thanks Outlaw...I'll work out how to do that on day..

    Jeff,

I have found the criss-cross type to be common, but rarely sight the one on mine on other IIA's. It was on there when I bought it from Fred Smith in Melbourne. I'll ask him when I take it in to him for it's next service in January.

It looks different to the standard version.
I wonder if its a UK spec County version, didnt they have Counties back then????
It also apears to have the plus35 badge which was when they beefed them up 35% stronger.

    My Gromit is identical!

It's the Australian grille - our cars were what I call "Ikea" cars: they came flatpacked and were assembled over here. CKD is the correct term.

English built cars have the traditional 'bbq' grille.

I like mine; the special grille gives it a smiling face that is reminiscent of the late 50s Austin Healey 'bugeye' Sprite.

OK, I have seen many of the criss-cross grilles...in Australia and Africa..maybe I have been seeing more UK built vehicles...being a CKD makes sense.

Nice car Gromit...mine is the original 'donk' but, petrol (ULP converted)...I would mind it being a diesel....can't have it all!
