Waved at a Yellow Defender 90 soft top on Mounts Bay Road on Sunday. He looked right at me and ignored me.
Apologies to all decent D90 drivers here but on the road I've never met a friendly one.

OK - here's a question to ponder.
I was stopped opposite another new Defender (white, but I don't think it was Scallops) at the traffic lights. I was front of the grid on my side, turning right and they were a couple of cars back on the opposite side looking over the tops of the cars in front.
I did not actually pass the other Defender, and I was some 25-30m away across the intersection so I chose not to wave. Neither did they.
Was this correct protocol?
I judged that they were too far away and if I did wave then, what next? We were both going nowhere so it could nave gotten awkward. Then we were not actually passing so when I did eventually move off, I was turning and not actually looking straight at them.
We need a rule book I think with acceptable distances etc.
I wave anyways...then again, I've never felt awkward when being an idiot. I am used to it apparently!
I waved to another Defender this morning on the way to work. I was in the Rodeo...they didn't wave back. I'm not surprised. I wouldn't have either! :D
hmmm, this is a serious issue and demands our full attention or even an official inquiry......:p
I must say I was taken aback when I was last in Sydney six months ago, driving west along the M4 between St Mary's and Penrith I passed a 90 going towards Sydney who enthusiastically waved across the lanes and centre verge, which is damn wide there.
Made my day :D
There were another couple of 90's getting around Penrith that wouldn't give me a wave, and I made sure I had eye contact.......
or maybe my crazed hill billy look just put them off a touch ....http://usera.imagecave.com/tdi-rick/...497e3-copy.jpg
Oh, and Qld registered Defenders wave far, far less than Defenders registered in all the other states and Territories. :p
Waved to a dark blue (or black) D3 not far from home this morning, got a wave back!! :D:D
I reckon it must've been a v8, since it was pulling out of a servo at the time!
:)
I've had 4 waves in the past 4 days, Saturday in Brookvale by someone in a brand new Defender SW. Very nice. Very enthusiastic wave too. The other 3 were from Disco drivers, last 2 yesterday one series 2 and one nice series 1 near Mittagong.
I have given up on the wave. I have been driving the Disco for the past five years I have only had one or two people wave to me, and I had to wave first to get that. My 4year old keeps asking who was that, or why did I wave to them. My wife just ignores me now, she just does not understand.
I have found when I drove my series 3 and defender I would get the wave but now in my discovery that memory has long gone until now thank you maybe all the disco drivers should remove the stick from their!!!
