No need for as rule book - you see a Landy, you wave...
I wave at 'em all.....and the funniest thing.....my daughter is learning to drive in the Disco, and she's waving.....and I do too from the passenger's seat...so they get a double whammy..![]()
Gave two waves today (Defenders) and got none back.
Had a crisis of conscience yesterday when I passed another Defender on the other side of a dual carriageway - couldn't work out whether it was too far to wave and by the time I had thought about it the moment was gone.
Damn, we really DO need a rule book.

Got a wave from a brand new Defender the other day. I was pointing at it saying to my passenger "Look one of the new Defenders", he obviously thought I was waving and threw one back.
As I suggested before - I consider the LR wave in the same protocol as saluting in the military.
"the junior person must salute the senior officer present."
Hence, when in my RRc I will initiate a LR wave to all Series Land Rovers and 2 door RR, however I expect Discoveries and later Range Rovers to initiate the wave as they are my RRs junior.
With Counties and Defenders, while I consider them direct in line from the Series Landies I generally consider them of equal status and will wave if I see them first and always (attempt*) to return the wave.

* damned multi-laned urban traffic is such a pain when you are trying to keep a lookout for the LR Wave.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Hello all,on my recent trip to Toowoomba i must have past around 50 Rover products, mostly Defender and discovery.a few Rangies and a 110 County.i was in my 2dr Rangie ute with a 2A on the back.i waved to all of them as i have always done.only one defender waved back.how pathetic is that!.dont people realise that a 2DR is a Rover product.Land Rover should give every buyer a history lesson when they sell a vehicle.though LR probably doesnt know the history themselves.to the one defender that waved,THANK YOU.from now on i,ll still wave but if i dont get one back, the Royal will be sent back.I,m now clambering of my soap box.thank you.![]()
3 defenders in the shire yesterday... not one of em waved back to my Disco.
I'll keep waving though...![]()
Waved at an ex-mil series 111 with no roof and a lounge in the back at Kirrawee yesterday - nothing in return.
