    Question Chat

    Does anyone still use Chat (as in the one available as Chat on the top navbar) ?

    i went in there quite alot but since the shout box has been available i have never seen anyone in there

    apart fromt the annoying bot
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    Inc, my opinion (FWIW) is we could all get by on Skype, Yahoo, MSN, etc if we want to save you bandwidth.

    true, but bandwidth isnt really a problem for me at the moment... i/o is another story tho :P

    Doesn't Skype hijack your bandwidth to use for routing other peoples calls?

    Bandwidth, I/O, it all comes down to bps (bits per second) somewhere. Remember wqhen we used to erroneously refer to this as baud rate

    There is a part of the Skype agreement which suggests that Skype can use your machine as a "Supernode" to use your machines resources and bandwidth for 3rd party traffic.

    If you have a limited download capacity on a plan with your ISP, Skype may be using this capacity without your knowledge.

    I won't be using it on my machine.
