as for the bandwidth bit, thats how ALL the internet does what it does.. a small client machine on a domestic link would be useless and time out as the packet latency would be horrendous so would be bypassed as a matter of course very very quickly...

correct they were and the supernode option is for inital package routing and some other nifty stuff, its semi intelligent and if your too slow it wont happen BUT it will burn up your bandwidth trying to do its thing

very little actually compared to a few of it competitors. i have done quite a few sustained packet dumps / monitoring on this and a few other things and it adds very little to your overall usage in comprison to other like applications. when i owned my isp business this monitoring was all part of keeping the service manageable.

like any voice protocol, when you start voice chatting there goes a fair chunk of your bandwidth, it has quite good compression algorithms / codecs from what i have seen so isn't nearly as bad as some.

in text chat mode it uses about the same as an irc client..

the only real minus is the heritage from what i have seen, and the current owners (ebay) are just as notorious if not worse.

I don't, cause i can't type fast enough, and other users don't compensate for slow pokes like me.
