Looks like some sort of heater box to me. What's inside the heavy cylinder?
They look like Gas fittings on that end cap.
It's definitely some form of heat exchanger, I'd guess at some kind of hot water unit.
This has been hanging around in my shed for a couple of years. Does anyone know what it comes off?
Some kind of exciting cooler.
TIA
Cheers
Simon

Simon have you a neighbour calling himself "The tow cutter" he may know what it is.
You have a scary shed mate...
it could a cool looking letter box![]()
On second thought, there is that way of cooling beer using a jet engine and some other really good play things.![]()
Dunno what it is but I like it a lot!
Aaaahhh roight. I know that.
It's upside down. The tubular section would normally contain a float level valve with it being fixed to the face plate.
It is called a Low Side Float in the game. HP liquid come into the small fitting & it's regulated by the float. It expands as it goes through the needle assy in the face plate & becomes Low Pressure liquid.
It's normally flooded with liquid refrigerant Sulphur Dioxide or Methyl Chloride, not usually Freon 12. Not Ammonia because it's probably built from copper or brass.
The number is a S/N & could be possibly a Kelvinator assy.
The float maintains a constant level & is topped up as it boils off.
The slots are for ice block trays. Fill 'em with water & away you go (in time)Probalby had a copper door to it.
I would date it 1930 - 50s but possibly earlier into the 1920s.
Hope this helps.![]()
