I bought a similar type esky up in Darwin when I was up North on a round Aus trip. In the Kimberley, in 35 degree heat and high humidity, using block ice, I still had ice and cold cans over 6 days later. They are awesome eskys and the c***p they pass off as eskys down south! Struth! I've kept normal bagged ice in mine for a week out in the sun in Melbourne after using it (just to see how long it would last)

    yes...they are awsome eskys........

even better if you rig up a compressor and the rest of the bits from a fridge to them.....

it would draw bugger all power if it were a fridge......it would probably only cycle on every second day.......

and...whilst on the subject of coolers......
    anyone know anything about these......?
they list them as a retail of around $1400 to $1500 then put a but it now price of half that figure......

    Hi Dirtdawg.
I have a 100L Icecool by Evakool and an Icytek 80L which looks very similar to your naw acquisition.
They both perform very well and the 5/10 day claims are realistic depending how you manage them.

My first trip to the cape they were all we had, block ice in both and we were away for 2 weeks, replentished ice in Sesia after a week and still had ice when we got home and they both sat in the back of my 110 ute.
So if they are of similar construction you should be pretty happy!

Email them and ask for a pic of the motor and compressor area, looks similat to one I looked at. The Compressor and copper tubing were held in place with plastic ties, wouldn't last 5 minutes on a rough road, if they wont send you a pic, be wary, Regards Frank.

Im not sure if thats the same one as one that was looked at a few years back by 1/15th while I was their as the fridges for the medic wagon but it came down to engle, waco and something that looked a little like that but a kind of off white in colour. while it was the cheaper unit and drew the least power while it was running it ran for a lot longer (but it was also significantly bigger).

in the end the killer for it was the size, it just wasnt practical to mount it anywhere.

Yep, I bought one off e-bay as well and then saw them again at the Gold Coast camping and fishing show - bloody sturdy and not sorry that i got one at all! And the price was the winning factor by far.

Yep, we bought the 60ltr one a couple of months ago, does the job well and seems pretty sturdy. We're happy with it.

Not sure about the 5 to 16 day ice rating, maybe with block ice I suppose it would last that long, definitely not party ice.

    Cheers

    Sean
