sorry,,
If the ECU is anything like the Disco's and RR's the lights will log as a fault and the dealers will see it when they plug in.
Hi everyone I have the latest model Defender and would like some advice on an issue it has been having. Now, after searching the www I am led to believe the issue is common but I can't decide whether to take it back under warranty or not.
The issue is similar to what I think Disco's had with the TC and ABS lights coming on. I am 99% sure nothing is actually happening to the mechanicals it is just the lights. Some times they never extinguish from when the engine turns over and some times they just decide to pop on even when on good sealed road when there is no chance of either TC or ABS kicking in.
Sometimes I can pullover, turn off the engine and back on and they go off and some times they don't. The problem is even if I take it to the dealer they may not see it as it doesn't always happen.
So I'm asking do I take it under warranty or do I just take comfort in knowing it is a Defender and it has its quirks? Or Maybe I could just call them and report it so for future reference it was already documented?
Thanks everyone. Because it is going in to be modded after this week I wanted to jump on top of this issue before they could blame it on the mods.

about 90 % of the time its a faulty wheel sensor or the connector to the wheel sensor.
it will log the fault and turn on both lights. the fault may go away and when you next shutdown and leave the power off for 30 seconds or so if they go out then the fault has cleared but it will remain in the systems memory.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
So in other words take it to your dealer and let them sort it out.
Better they cop the cost then you![]()

Thank you, it is the answer I was looking for. I also have decided to ask for a new drivers side mirror as above 90km/h it tilts right down so I just see the back wheel arch and the white lines pass by which is pretty annoying at 110kmph haha. I assume they would fix it considering it is brand new.
Thanks.
There have been similar reports on other UK sites regarding TC & ABS lights.
The mirror probably just needs tightening (I have had this problem on two Defenders) - except if it's the actual arm that's loose they have to take the door off to do it. They swap the side mirrors over for Australia - I think the UK spec ones have reducing or curved glass or something. Like the drilling out of the rivets, it's just another thing the Aussie guys don't seem to do neatly when they come off the boat.
Sometimes caused by the fitting of non-genuine brake pads.

Well my L.R. Fella has said that he'll plug the computer in and see where that gets us...
Can I say that it doesn't sound right to me that a defender now seems just as modern as other vehicles. By this I mean the plugging in of the computer to troubleshoot.
Xavier.
The 'Fender went in and it was a wheel sensor, one of the front wheels. They are shipping it over night from melb and has offered to fix it either tomorrow or early next week.
They tightened the mirror for me also which was good as they had to take all the door trimming off so better them then me.
