Checker plate as a bash plate/sump guard is not suitable for that job, it tends to grab instead of sliding over, get smooth alloy plate or steel, unless you intend using the smooth side. Find a metal retailer and ask for "seconds", they usually have some sheets that have a small piece cut out or with some scratches, I bought an 2400x1200x3mm seconds checker plate sheet that had a piece missing 600x300 for $20, Regards Frank.

    Alloy

''Ullrich'' aluminium or ''Capral'' are the two big sellers of products. they have outlets in most states. Scrap yards are usually more expensive half the time.

For you both are at Wetheril park from memory.

i just got 780x780 for a plate to go over the top of my fuel tank as i put a dent in it off roading that cost me $70 just over.........dont ask me where ir came from though as discowhite ordered it for me

and i know doubt will be having the chequer side down saw tanks coments about getting hung up but i'm going on the theory that i will drag my self through it..............as i came down hard on the back of my'n last time i went out so protecting the tank is the main thing for me at the moment thought about using the smooth side but this side has allready got some huge scratches in it i dont think it will last very long smooth side down..............i suppose we will see

Keep shopping around, I just bought a sheet (1200 x 2400) of 2mm for $151 so 3 & 5 shouldn't be that expensive I woundn't think. I got mine from the aluminium warehouse in Ipswich, so try the yellow pages. You may find the smaller places are cheaper than the large places like Capral as the large places don't like dealing with the public. My thoughts anyway.

    Cheers, Mick.
