Thread: Score!

I was down at the local Repco enquiring about a Boost Pressure Gauge and a Oil Temperature Gauge for my 300tdi (oil pressure gauge is for the automatic gearbox I've dropped into her).

I wanted some VDO gear as all my other gauges are VDO's so was looking through their catalogue.

It was all a little intimidating as there are so many options in their catalogue... so the guy said - take it home, write a list and bring me the list.

"Do you want the catalogue back?" I ask.

"Nah, I've got another one around here somewhere and I need to order a newer one anyway" he says.

"You sure" I ask.

"Yup" he says.

So I've scored a VDO catalogue - yay!

Now when I get time I'll write down the options available and ask people what I need

You can generally just get that sort of stuff by asking your local auto elec or parts supplier to get their rep to drop off a spare.

The only supplier that I use that you need to buy their parts books is BSC with the Manual which I have just bought the new ones $75

All the other suppliers e.g. NGK, Champion, Baldwin, Wix, Fleetguard, PBR, Gabriel, Monroe etc etc all have supplied their books to me for nothing just by asking the parts bloke to get the rep to drop an extra copy off to them for you.

VDO book would be handy though.
