    2007/08 Defender 90 in Hong Kong

    HI All - I drove past the LR dealer here in HKG today and noticed they had a 2007 Defender 90 in stock, so of course I had to stop and take a look...

    INteresting in HKG, you need a special license to drive a diesel and 15 years ago, the government tried to eliminate diesels from the roads for environmental reasons...So these days there are still some restrictions on diesles so importing defenders has been limited to personal orders only.

    Anyway, they are being more agressive on the defender and have imported 90's [as pictured], 110 wagons and 110 Crew Cabs. All are the same price, HK$390K = A$57K....Own a car for 12 months in HKG then you can legally import to Australia.....no plans for now, but an option for enthusiasts out there.

    This 90 is pictured a soft top in Rimini Red, I sat in it and found itvery comfortable...

    have they had the soft top made yet?

    I went into the dealer a couple of times this year - my HQ is in WanChai and I walk past the dealer from the Novotel to my office!!!

    They told me they were coming in with just the role bar and having the soft top made locally - similar to the NAS one I have been told.

    they are actually spec'd up utes / hartops (read Commercials) to get them around some of the other HK laws on importation.
