    Dargo since the fires?

Can anyone tell us what it's like now, if you have photos that would be good, we are thinking of camping there and looking around.

most of it's open as far as i know....
where exactly you were thinking of camping ?
Italian Flat, just north of Dargo is nice for bush type, free camping. It's got long drop dunnies
if you want a full facility camping ground the one at Waterford, just south of Dargo is nice - right by the river. Owners can be a bit grumpy though. Fuel available there.

I led a club trip through the Dargo area in May 2007 - campsites north east of town along the Dargo River were hit pretty hard but even as early as May they were already starting to recover. I'd guess that by now they would be looking pretty good, with a lot of the rubbish having been burnt away.

The area around Harrisons Cut and also Grant was also hit hard. but would would be recoverg well.

The locals will certainly be glad to see you as they rely on the tourist trade a great deal for their survival.

I didn't get many photos of the campsites along the river but have tried to attach a few in and around the area. Generally the hills copped it the worst - down in the valleys where things were possibly a little more moist it does not seem to have been so intense and is recovering faster.

First pic is of a couple of locals coming down from the Dargo High Plain and the last three are climbing up the ridge from Harrisons Cut to the Birrigan Track.

BTW have a good trip and don't forget your fishing rod!

Depending on your timing, you may run into the LROCV in the area. I think they usually have a base camp at Waterford evey January and do day trips out from there - you may be able to get friendly and tag along even!
Can get rather warm in Jan though so make sure you camp beside a river - nothing quite like sitting on your camp chair in the middle of the river with a coldie and a good 4x4 Magazine.
