You only need permits, MSDS and DG licence if you are a comertial operator.
Most tips these days will only accept in 5ltr or 20ltr drums and some do put limits on how many you can drop off.
I get my 1000ltr waste oil tank emptied once a year at the golf club and they do it for nothing, they used to pay for it until all the permits and safety structure made it more expensive to transport.

Probably shouldn't mention this - but used sump oil does a great job of keeping the weeds in the laneway out the back under control. :wasntme:

I work for an LPG distributor and can assure all that you can carry 250 litres of dangerous goods- not in a passenger compartment- in Vic. It used to be 500 litres until a dozen or so years ago.
The intent is that a farmer can go into town and pick up a couple of 45kg's which are 108 litres each water cap - (you go on the gross vessel size for LPG).
Over 250 litres requires DG equipment, fire extinguisher placards, insurance licence endorsement etc.

we have a mazda dealer next door to work ythat leaves all of it's old drums for colloction, we just empty our drums into them and let them pay for it. gets them back for using our driveway for unloading new cars and blocking our access
