Lashed out on new D3 today.

Well sort of, I was walking through sturt mall looking for a prezzy for my wife and passed this stand selling model cars. There it was a D3 RC car on 1-16 scale for 40 bucks.

    Poor pics thanks to phone.

They also had a 1-6 scale version that was mp3- mp4 capible. Dunno what that means.

That means you can load it up with some songs which it will play while its being driven around.

I have seen them around...and they have a really detailed interior! Dunno what I would use it for though...

    Easo,

I had no idea you could buy so many variants in the USA??
    They start at 1/24, then 1/18, 1/16, 1/10 and 1/6

I have bought this one, the 1/6 30 inch long one,

and now I have discovered a better big OFF roader
    Oh well, too late now

That one is also a 1/6 scale and here is a review on it

    Huge fun

Alright it's big, bad and fairly fast. No, it's not "hobby grade" but I didn't want the hassle either [or the cost for that matter]. This thing is huge so plan on using it outdoors [at least two feet long and eighteen inches wide]. I thought it was a little flimsy at first, but after my excursion this morning into a boulder and earlier into my kitchen cabinets and a wall and down a ditch, I'm convinced otherwise. The manufacturer, New Bright, intelligently put a thick foam bumper on the front of it which really absorbed a full speed crash with a boulder. This thing is plenty fast for me [15 mph at least]. It comes with TWO 19.2 volt batteries that each have 600mah. What does this mean? Well, I'm not even entirely sure myself yet I was able to play around at full blast for at least 20 minutes and it felt like it had another 10 to 20 minutes left in it. The packaging states that it's only to be used on the street [no water], but of course I was running it through the grass, leaves, bumps, etc.

It's best to slow down to steer despite the fact that it does have some good "shoes"/tires, which are made of rubber as opposed to hard plastic. I paid $100 at Target for it, which is about $300 less than what I was going to pay for a loaded Traxxas E-Maxx [certainly no comparison with oil filled shocks, twin 550 motors, blah blah blah]. I have yet to jump/ramp it, but I think it will be good enough for my purposes [just basic fun and a little childish behavior].

It does include both batteries and chargers, which is a huge plus. The Instruction Manual says it might "cutoff" if you try to enter a steep grade; however, I went up a very steep gutter drain [easily 65 degrees] and it didn't cutoff at all - very impressive !!

It goes forwards and backwards very quickly, and you can even pull small wheelies both ways - usually accidentally The toy is pretty heavy so don't expect a small kid to be able to lug it around. Heck, a small kid could almost ride on this thing - just kidding of course, not advised. One thing I would advise if you get it [which you should], is to remove the black hood pins and bumper pins that hold the body on [because they fall off super easy just pulling it out of the package]: instead, take the nice black twistie tie that comes in the packaging and cut it in 5 equal pieces [the fifth one is a spare]. Take each piece and guide it through a hole in each of the clear "body-poles" and twist it equally. To me, this is a much better solution and still looks very similar to the hood/bumper "pins".

    Cheers

I actually found in the top of the cupboard a 4x4 Toyota (Excuse the brand) RC car. Its my partners and I didn't even know it was there.
It even has a working front mounted winch.
I will post a pic tomorrow if it still runs.
