Thread: I really miss freeway driving!!!!!

Don't knock the brakes on Series vehicles, if in good working order they are not a problem (a booster helps) it is just getting to freeway speeds that is the problem but, being a Qlder, and driving an Ex-Army 2a I don't have much trouble at Round-a-Bouts or Merging seems that the steel "Brush Bar" and the drab olive paint job with tac plates speaks ALL languages has a suprising effect on 20-somethings Dolly Birds in RED econoboxes and merging a Series on to a Freeway is simple, wind it up until Valve Bounce-- Blinker on-- Merge then slowly return to cruising speed in the left lane my old girl sits on 90-95 kph OK

Driving around the local area yesterday, couldn't count the number of stupid things people were doing. Several running red lights, not on the change mind, just going straight through across oncoming traffic already in the intersection. Turning across oncoming traffic against the lights. U-turn across island on Parramatta Road. Driving on the wrong side of the road towards oncoming traffic.

And this was all before nine in the morning.

The other new feature of city drivers I picked up on,which is bizzare!!!!!
Double demerit points in WA at the moment,people are starting getting the message you are not allowed to talk on the mobile whilst driving.
Now they just pull up in the left lane,turn lanes,emegency lanes on the freeway,bus bays with no idea the mayhem it causes behind them whilst they are happily chatting,they dont care.
I can just imagine them getting real upset with Mr Plod as he books them,"But officer I wasnt driving I stopped the car"

I think the kiwis are the worst at merging that I have ever seen.

I hate it so much when everybody slows down just to have a peep at something on the side of the road. The traffic was at a standstill for about 5km's yesterday driving from Redcliffe back to Brisbane all because there was a car that had been pulled over by the police on the side of the motorway

2 misshaps on the freeway today on the way home.
The first somebody ran into the back of another car,minor damage not tow aways at all,both vehicles safely parked in the emergency lane.WHY DOES EVERYONE NEED TO SLOW TO 20KS FOR A LOOK???? Real clever when you have traffic bearing down on you at 100ks+
The second,mutch more dangerous!!!!!WHY CANT PEOPLE MERGE??????? The freeway traffic was busy but mooving at 100ks+.WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST IN TRYING TO MERGE AT 60ks,at 3 on ramps I copped this,they putter along at 60 till they run out of merge lane then just pull onto the freeway,glad I wasnt driving a Series Landy,there is no way you can deal with that with drum brakes!!!! If they hit the traffic at the same speed they will get let in.

I once got stuck behind some s**t for brains at an on-ramp to a motorway whom had actualy stopped at the dashed line waiting for a gap in the traffic There are very few times where a gun could solve the worlds problems, and i think that would be one of them

how do you know they are kiwi's?? I am one and I know how to merge coming from a small country town even I know that 60km/hr does'nt go to well into 100km/hr.

some of the merging lanes in the brisbane area are a bit short and you have to floor it to build up speed which I do on the shorter ones and the ones that stop on these I just go around leaning on the horn as I go around the idiots
