    97 discovery

For the last month I have been looking at discovery's going yes I will, no I wont ect. Keep the rangie, sell the rangie.
Well I just put down a deposit on a 97 discovery that was brought over from England by the original owner (I will be the third). The vehicle has 105000km on it, bit of a lift and 33's. 5 speed , air, central locking, power windows & mirrors.
The engine has been replace because the former owner lent the vehicle and the rad cap was left off a it was siezed beyond repair.
The guy that has it now has repaced the motor and a few other bits and pieces (new timing belt being one other thing) to use as a keeper but decided it was too small for his needs (big family).
    Paid $9500,
I thing I have done fairly well, whats the general opinion
    cheers

yeh, I was bloody happy when I found it , the only unknow is how many km's are on the new motor but it runs and sounds sweet, hasnt used any oil in about 1500km since it was put in. Knowing the orignal owner and the mechanic that brought it off him helped ease the mind to the condition. Being all local helps too. My son inlaw who is over from WA for chrissie told me about it yesterday, had another mate tell me about it earlier but he thought it had a comodore motor slotted in.
    cheers

    Just to add
    it needs
A snorkle (so I can fit aux battery
Bull bar (to fit my winch)
New legs for my Rhino racks
Side steps (so I can reach my ladders)
Rear draws (to fit all my work gear, not quite as much room as the rangie)
    cheers

I think so, too. I bought a '95 auto 300 Tdi for $6K but spent another couple doing the belts, hoses, wheel bearings, etc., so it could go to a remote area (Derby) and be relatively reliable for my daughter particularly when she went out of town to Cape Leveque or on the GRR or similar.

I originally bought it for me so I hadn't intended to spend the extra money on an immediate refurbishment.

ok being as though you have put a deposit

i dont want to be a kill joy........only offer some advice make sure you check it thouroughly for rust if it has been brought over from the uk

as in the uk the disco's are appalling for rotting out.......

its due to the road conditions and the salt and grit used for the icey roads!!!
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

had a good crawl underneath it and it looks ok, fairly clean as in no dirt hiding any thing. It does want a coat of underbody sealer though (that sound deadening stuff). thanks for the tips
