    Sadec 3 way fridge

Just acquired one of these, apparently similar/same to a Chescold, and almost identical to a Finch fridge that I also have.

I plugged it up to cool the Christmas overflow from the fridge and found that it didn't quite make stuff as cool as I wanted. It works, iced up on the inside and warm coming out of the top on the outside, but took a very long time for the drinks to get not-quite-cold-enough.

Does anyone have a manual for these things? Are there special tips for cleaning, etc.? I read some threads on Exploreoz, but I'm still trying to get something good out of 240v.

Oh, and the gas hookup is just a threaded tube. Do you need a hose with a regulator?

    Cheers

I believe if you let it sit upside down for a few hours, it will often improve the performance. For gas it will need a regulator and they need to be level when operating. They will only cool to about 25 deg below ambient air temp, so on a 40 degree day it'll work down to around 15 deg.

I'm sure others will add more info.

we had a talk from the wacoe guy at the lroc few months ago, very usefull info and a good insight to fridges etc.
he said the 3 ways are not so good on electric but great on gas, the electric is more to keep it at a low temperature between traveling to different campsites and putting back on gas.

Don't know about that. Our old Finch worked fine on 12 and 240 volts, and equally well on gas, allowing for the ambient temp differences. Not working well on electricity to my mind has more to do with cable size, cable length and susequent current draw.

Wouldn't go back to one though, but am happy to use it as a drinks fridge at home.

Don't forget that 3 ways like to be cooled down before using.
I put mine on 2 days before put anything in it and have no problems.

Yep. Chilled the beer nicely by Boxing Day.

Now the cooler inside is well iced up.

    Normal?

    They work best on gas.
Great to use on a long stop. will go for days on a gas bottle.
Not to good on 12v and use up to much battery.
